19 Weeks 3 Days: Check up and Ultrasound

Today was an exciting appointment. Not only are we half way through the pregnancy (CRAZY), we also got to see the baby in full detail.

I was beginning to get concerned because I haven't felt the baby move, and my belly really isn't sticking out too much. However, at Dr. Wilson's office he helped reassure us by letting us hear the heart beat and measuring the uterus. The baby is in there and growing.

Then, the real reassurance came when we had the ultrasound! Not only is there a baby in there, but is likes to move, A LOT!! The radiology tech was having a difficult time taking pictures and getting measurements because Baby Mayer did not want to be still. It also seems as if Baby Mayer is a bit camera shy because it kept putting its arms in front of its face while we were trying to take pictures.

We got to see the brain, heart, stomach, diaphram, spine, arms, legs, face, hands, etc. Pretty much everything, except the gender (The tech said she could tell us if we wanted to know, but we really want it to be a surprise). You can see the photos on the right. I know they are kind of hard to make out, but you can definitely see the bones in the arms and legs.

A couple of other things we figured out: 1. We know baby takes after Abby because, the legs were kicking around and constantly moving. 2. We know baby takes after Garrett because when we did get a picture of the face, the mouth was open--I am sure it was telling us a story the whole time :)

All in all, Baby Mayer was doing well. Now we just begin the countdown for July 1.
